My Life on 35mm #16 | Kodak Gold 200, August 2019
Hello from the Covid-19 lockdown! How is everyone holding up being trapped at home? Doing lots of baking?
I moved home temporarily a week before the lockdown announcement because two of my flatmates were coming back from travelling (having almost got trapped in Vietnam with all the flights being cancelled around them) and needed to self isolate for 2 weeks. So I am at my parents place for the full lockdown, with the house mid way through a renovation, which is superbly bad timing - we have no kitchen and all the lounge furniture is in storage. So it has been an interesting few weeks so far.
I have been trying to organise my files, do backups, update all my programs etc, all the boring stuff I put off doing because I literally have no excuse not to do it right now. In my adventures through my hardrive, I found a few rolls from last year I completely forgot I hadn’t posted anywhere. I’ve not been developing my film in the past few months as I’m trying to save money… though I’m still buying and shooting it. Flawed plan. ANYWAY, because it’s not a constant flow of film coming in and going out, three rolls from around August/September last year just got forgotten about in my scanning folder. Just wasting away.
This roll was shot over about 30 minutes (great way to conserve that price per shot there Charlotte) while I was wandering around Ponsonby one afternoon. Wandering around and getting coffee there is one of the things I’m missing the most about being locked down, though the biggest for sure is just straight up having a barista made flat white no matter where it is from. I have been drinking plunger coffee for a month straight and it’s starting to make me sad. I’ve started drinking it black. This is unheard of for me. Even as a poor student I budgeted to give me enough money to buy a coffee every day on campus. Wow, okay. Need to stop myself before I write a full on love letter to coffee. Moving on.
I have a backlog of film ready to be sent off to The Black and White Box lockdown is lifted in NZ (at least 1.5 weeks to go) which will hopefully follow after these rolls.
